Quentin Tarantino is back with another delight for us on the big screen – Django Unchained. Elysium Magazine are fans of Tarantino\u2019s previous creations but what can we expect from his latest\u00a0instalment\u00a0 Read on to find out.<\/p>\n

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago. Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation.<\/p>\n

Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave.<\/p>\n

The trailer gives us a good teaser of what we can expect from the movie. A number of critics have given the movie the thumbs up and Will.i.am has tweeted his delight at the movie – stating it was the best movie he had seen in years! Slightly different from the tweets from director Spike Lee who wrote:<\/p>\n

“American Slavery Was Not A Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western. It Was A Holocaust. My Ancestors Are Slaves. Stolen From Africa. I Will Honor Them.”<\/p>\n

Foxx was soon defending the movie as well as Tarantino, telling the Los Angeles Times in December: \u201cQuentin has an affinity for writing horrible things, and then making you laugh,\u201d<\/p>\n

“He’s making entertainment. Hopefully, it makes you go ask questions and you Google it. If you want to learn something from a movie, go watch a documentary.”<\/p>\n
